Kitsap County Superior Court Judge Sally Olsen got an opponent in the fall election on the last day of filing Friday, when Port Orchard lawyer Jonathan Morrison put his name in the race.

And a fourth entrant in the race for Bainbridge Island mayor arose with the filing of Nezam Tooloee of Seabold Road, joining Michaels Berry and Will Peddy in opposing incumbent Darlene Kordonowy.

It was a busy final day of filing with Port Orchard City Council and South Kitsap school and park boards drawing most of the interest.

The SK Park Board filings produced a shocker when appointee Ryan Rees didn’t file for election, but his father Leon did. Warren Collver III and William J. Pierce of Crane Avenue also filed for that seat. Margie Rees, Ryan Rees’ mother and Leon’s wife, already is on the board, and has filed for a separate seat.

Incumbent councilmen Bob Geiger and Ron Rider filed for reelection in Port Orchard, Geiger against Gil Michael, who filed earlier, and Rider to face city planning commission member Fred Chang, who also filed Friday and former Mayor Leslie Weatherill.

In the SK School District, Chuck Mayhew of Yosemite Place filed to oppose Susan Cruver, who had filed the day before in District 3, and Renee’ Proctor-Brown of Vallair Court and Kathryn Simpson of Greenbriar Place both signed up for the District 4 seat.

In the North Kitsap School District, County Republican Chairman Matthew Cleverley filed for the District 3 seat which already had drawn Melanie Mohler as a candidate.

Michael G. Foley of Beachcrest Drive filed for the District 2 school board seat in the Bainbridge Island, the only candidate.

Also on the island, Kjell Stoknes of Wood Avenue filed for city council, in District 5 Central Ward and later in the day got an opponent in Douglas Smith of North Town Drive.

Bremerton Port Commissioner Bill Mahan got opposition on the final day, when John Max Gray of Troon Avenue in McCormick Woods filed against him.
